Amendment 79 Implementation Bill Has First Hearing in Colorado State Senate Today
Denver – New and final data from the 2024 election cycle shows that Amendment 79, putting the right to abortion in the Colorado Constitution, won a majority in EVERY congressional district in Colorado. That includes CD 4 (Boebert) where Amendment 79 won the majority by 157 votes.
“Colorado voters have spoken, in overwhelming numbers, across geographic and party lines: they support the right to abortion,” said Cobalt President Karen Middleton. “This is a clear mandate from the people of Colorado. And now it is time to put the will of the voters into action with legislation.”
As a Constitutional measure, Amendment 79 required 55% of the vote to pass, and it secured 62% statewide.
The first hearing on implementation legislation for Amendment 79, SB 183, will be held this afternoon in the Colorado State Senate Judiciary Committee at 1:30 p.m.
