On the 52nd anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision on Roe v. Wade, Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib and Cobalt Advocates President Karen Middleton released the following statements on the lifesaving ruling now overturned by Donald Trump’s radical Supreme Court:

“As we mark the anniversary of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, we are reminded that the fight for the full spectrum of reproductive rights is far from over. The loss of this fundamental protection for millions of Americans has only strengthened our resolve to ensure that every person has the autonomy and support they need to make decisions about their own bodies,” said Cobalt Advocates President Karen Middleton. “We stand unwavering in our commitment to fighting for a future where reproductive freedom, including abortion care, is secure for all.”

“Donald Trump and the Republican Party’s overturning of Roe v. Wade is an assault on personal freedoms that has endangered women’s lives across the country and forced too many women and families into hardship,” said Shad Murib, Chair of the Colorado Democratic Party. “Thankfully, Colorado voters and lawmakers have enshrined this right, and women across the country deserve the same protection of our freedoms that we have here in our state.”

Trump and his Project 2025 allies are hellbent on banning abortion nationwide and are threatening IVF and contraception access – policy decisions that will not only put women at medical risk but also increase economic hardship for women and families across the country:

  • Trump owns every single abortion ban in the country, and his Project 2025 agenda includes a national abortion ban.

  • Trump’s Project 2025 agenda includes plans to revoke access to medication abortion by using the Comstock Act to ban the shipment of the medication by mail.

  • Trump’s agenda promises to force states to surveil and report on women’s miscarriages and abortions.

  • After opening the door to attacks on IVF by overturning Roe, Trump has failed to rule out signing legislation that would threaten access to the procedure while his Project 2025 allies scheme to “re-run the Roe playbook” on IVF access.

  • On Trump’s first day in office, the government website offering reproductive health information was taken offline.
